More than 20 co-operatives from 20 districts in Uganda participated in this year’s edition of #PlantACoopTree completion that was organized by Uhuru Institute as part of the Coop360 Initiative.
Coop360 Initiative amongst other things is looking at increasing co-operative investments in green business for sustainable societies.
The competition judges were out in the districts evaluating the competitors and identifying the winners from various sectors who voluntarily participated in the tree planting competition. As per the competition criteria, the competitors were expected to have raised the 500 grevellia seedlings provided by the promoter and organizer – Uhuru Institute for Social Development.
The winners were awarded a peer to peer learning visit to a progressive cooperative within East African region to help them shape their relevant Organisation Development policies and a 5 day training of members. The trainings specifically touched on the areas that will nudge the cooperatives towards business success.
